Departure from Scandinavia towards Rio de Janeiro. Exact flight times and connections are confirmed when the journey is planned. Meals on board follow the airline service.

As the mountains and sea begin to appear between the buildings, Rio’s geography quickly becomes tangible. There are no fixed activities after arrival. A walk along the beach and dinner nearby are enough after the long-haul flight. The proper introduction to the city begins the following morning.

From the cable car above Urca, Guanabara Bay, the coastline and central districts open into view. At Corcovado, the city lies farther below and the way lagoons, beaches and mountains divide the urban landscape becomes clear. Visits are planned according to visibility and traffic, as the weather can change quickly around the peaks. With a guide, the day also becomes an introduction to the neighbourhoods passed between the viewpoints.

Copacabana and Ipanema are natural starting points, but Urca, Santa Teresa or the port area are close enough for a spontaneous excursion. Early morning works well for swimming or a walk, while the beachfront often becomes livelier later in the afternoon. This is a day to experience Rio as a living city rather than simply a list of sights to complete.

Continuing around Lagoa shows another side of everyday Rio, with cycle paths, parks and views towards Corcovado. Afterwards, there is plenty of time for the beach, a museum or a long lunch. In the evening, choose between restaurants near the hotel and live music in one of the city’s livelier districts.

When it is time to leave Rio, the transfer takes place according to the onward itinerary. If departure is later in the day, there is time for one final walk along the beach. Nothing further is scheduled before the transfer, leaving plenty of time for traffic and the next connection.
The transfer goes to the airport for the flight to Manaus. After landing, a transfer continues to the accommodation.
A private transfer takes you from the airport to your hotel in Manaus. There are no further fixed activities on arrival day. Manaus is also a reminder that the Amazon is not only rainforest and rivers. It is a large city with ports, markets and an intense everyday life.

The journey often combines both road and boat travel. Gradually, the built-up areas thin out, stretches of water become broader and small communities replace city neighbourhoods. After lunch at the lodge, the first excursion explores the surrounding area, often by small boat.
After dark, the soundscape changes completely. An evening excursion offers a chance to look for caimans, nocturnal birds and other wildlife that is seldom active in the middle of the day.

Herons, parrots and kingfishers are among the birds often seen, while monkeys, sloths and river dolphins require both luck and careful observation. Later in the morning, a guided walk enters the forest. The focus shifts to detail: the ways in which different tree species adapt, as well as animal tracks, insects and plants used locally. After lunch, another boat or canoe excursion explores a different area.

A respectful visit to a local community provides insight into how the river functions as a transport route, workplace and link between people living far from the road network. Later, conditions around the lodge determine whether activities continue by boat, on foot or with a quieter period of observation.
Chasing as long a species list as possible in a short time can detract from the experience. Some of the best moments come when the guide switches off the engine, lets the boat drift and waits.

On this itinerary, the transfer is planned to continue directly to the airport whenever the flight schedule allows. The transition from forest and waterways back to city traffic and aviation provides one final contrast.
The return from the lodge is planned so that you can continue to Manaus airport. From there, flights to Scandinavia connect through a Brazilian or European hub according to the final itinerary.

Arrival in Scandinavia after the overnight flight.
The exact daily programme in the Amazon is influenced by water levels, weather and the lodge’s current activity schedule. The order of activities may therefore change without altering the main content of the journey.
The final price depends on travel dates, departure point, flight availability, hotel standard, room type and number of travellers.
