About SambaTravel
SambaTravel is a Scandinavian travel agency specialising in tailor-made journeys to Latin America. We remain your point of contact from the first planning conversation to our follow-up after the trip, making sure every part of the itinerary works together. Our advice draws on deep regional knowledge and more than two decades of practical experience.
SambaTravel was founded in 2003 after an extended journey through South America revealed the scale and variety of the continent. We began by arranging travel to Brazil and gradually expanded our knowledge and operations across Latin America. Today we work throughout South and Central America, guided by the same principle as at the outset: to plan journeys that live up to our travellers’ expectations and ambitions.
We have chosen to specialise in one region rather than spread ourselves across the world. Latin America contains enormous contrasts. Climate, distance and pace differ sharply between the Andes, rainforest, Patagonia and the Caribbean coasts. Making a journey work means understanding those differences.
Our work is rooted in both Scandinavia and Brazil, with close connections to several countries in the region. We build long-term relationships with local partners and communicate fluently in Portuguese and Spanish. This makes planning smoother, reduces the risk of misunderstandings and helps us attend to the details that matter.
Through our agreements with airlines serving Latin America, as well as with hotels and local suppliers, we can work directly in local currencies. This gives us close control over both quality and cost.
Specialisation as a way of working
We work exclusively with Latin America. This allows us to give precise advice and plan journeys with confidence. An itinerary through Peru requires a different approach from one combining Argentina and Chile. Colombia or Costa Rica, in turn, calls for different choices from southern Brazil.
Knowing the region makes it easier to judge how long to stay in each place and when it is wiser to slow the pace. Those decisions make the journey more coherent.
Many of our assignments involve multi-stop journeys during high season, often over Christmas and New Year or for several generations travelling together. Different preferences must then fit within the same itinerary. This requires the right sequence, realistic travel times and a pace that suits both younger and older travellers.
Latin America offers enough breadth to combine cities, nature and beaches without making the journey feel fragmented.
A network on the ground
Over more than two decades we have built relationships with guides, hotels and local operators in several Latin American countries. These are partnerships developed through repeated work over time.
When something needs to be adjusted, there are people on the ground whom we know and trust. That creates a stability which may not be visible in a booking confirmation but becomes important during the journey.
Planning with the whole journey in mind
A journey to Latin America is often something people have looked forward to for a long time. We therefore put considerable emphasis on the planning stage. We begin by understanding what matters most to you: nature, culture, city life, hiking, wildlife or a combination of several interests.
We then build a structure around season, distance and realistic transfers. The first and last nights are placed carefully, and transitions between different parts of the journey are planned so that time is used well.
Available before and during the journey
Our contact with the traveller continues after the booking is made. If something needs to be changed before departure, or if an unexpected situation arises during the journey, we remain available. You can reach us by telephone, WhatsApp and email and you are in direct contact with the person who planned and booked your trip.
When several components form part of the same journey, having one clear point of contact is valuable. We make sure the itinerary has a coherent structure and that each part works with the others.
