Refúgio da Ilha is especially attractive to travellers who enjoy being close to the water. Small canoes and boats reach channels and baías that are difficult to experience from a vehicle.

Day 1
Travel to Refúgio da Ilha near Miranda according to the confirmed transfer arrangements. After arrival, check in and meet the family and guides.
When time permits, take a first quiet canoe trip through channels and flooded areas close to the fazenda.
Dinner and overnight at Refúgio da Ilha.
Day 2
Begin the day paddling through corixos and baías. The quiet approach is particularly good for birdlife and gives a chance of seeing giant otters and other river animals.
Later, continue by motorboat on the Salobra River. The guide adapts the route to water level and recent observations.
Return to the fazenda for dinner and a relaxed evening.
Day 3
Explore another side of the fazenda on horseback, crossing open ground, woodland and seasonally wet areas. The pace is adapted to the riders.
During the second activity, take a traditional buffalo-cart safari or a nature walk, with time to learn about plants, tracks and everyday life on the property.
Dinner and a final overnight at the lodge.
Day 4
When transfer timing permits, take a final short nature activity during the cooler morning hours.
After breakfast, continue to Bonito, Campo Grande or the next part of the journey.

The programme includes canoeing, horse riding and walking as well as boat trips. Normal mobility, balance and the ability to get in and out of smaller craft are useful.
Activities can be adapted for guests who prefer not to ride or paddle, provided this is discussed before booking.
