Tariri Amazon Lodge – 5 days

More time at Lago Acajatuba and a slower encounter with the Amazon

5 days / 4 nights Easy to moderate Lago Acajatuba beside the Rio Negro

The five-day programme is the best choice for travellers who want Tariri’s small-scale atmosphere to become part of the experience rather than simply a base between excursions.

The programme includes the same core activities as the four-day stay but spreads them over more days. This gives more room for canoeing, wildlife, conversation and rest during the hottest hours.

The extra time includes a more in-depth visit with riverside families, focusing on fishing, manioc, fruit cultivation and regional everyday knowledge. A forest camp can be booked as a separate optional extra but is not automatically included.

Accommodation and facilities

Tariri Amazon Lodge

4 nights · Lago Acajatuba beside the Rio Negro, near the Anavilhanas area

Tariri Amazon Lodge

Tariri is a small, family-run lodge with detached wooden cabins linked by walkways. The atmosphere is personal and informal, with a strong connection to the place and the family operating the property.

The cabins are simple but private, with their own bathroom and hot shower, fan, screened windows and a balcony with hammock. Air conditioning, mobile coverage and stable internet are normally unavailable.

Meals are an important part of the stay and use regional ingredients, fish, fruit and local flavours. Exact room allocation and bedding are confirmed in SambaTravel’s proposal.

Easy to moderate

Physical level

The programme includes small boats, canoeing and walks on natural trails. Normal mobility and the ability to get in and out of boats are required.

The extra day makes the pace gentler than the four-day programme, although heat and humidity can still be demanding. Activities can be omitted after discussion with the guide.

Good to know

The order of activities may change according to weather, water level, wildlife, transfer logistics and other guests’ programmes. The final plan is set at the lodge.

Tariri is a rustic lodge with fans rather than air conditioning. Mobile coverage and internet are very limited or may be unavailable.

The lodge is remote beside Lago Acajatuba. Transfer from Manaus normally combines road and boat and may take about two and a half to three hours depending on the arrangement and conditions.

Excursions are normally shared with other guests. Private arrangements must be requested and reconfirmed.

Wild animals move freely and sightings of any particular species can never be guaranteed.

A simple forest overnight can be arranged as an optional extra. The setup, safety requirements and which lodge night it replaces must be confirmed before booking.

The programme can be booked on its own or combined with flights, a Manaus hotel and other parts of a tailor-made journey. Exact inclusions and price are stated in SambaTravel’s proposal.

Five days is recommended for travellers who want more time for the place and less sense of a compressed excursion schedule.

What to bring

Tariri lies in a hot and humid area and the cabins do not have air conditioning. Lightweight, breathable and quick-drying clothing is therefore most useful.

Long trousers, socks and closed shoes are recommended for forest walks. Keep cameras and other electronics in a waterproof bag during boat and canoe trips.

  • Light T-shirts, shorts and breathable casual clothing
  • Long-sleeved shirt and long trousers for forest walks
  • Closed shoes with good grip
  • Sandals or water shoes
  • Swimwear and a small towel
  • Sun hat or cap
  • Sunscreen and sunglasses
  • Effective insect repellent
  • Light rain jacket or poncho
  • Personal medication and toiletries
  • Binoculars
  • Camera, spare batteries and waterproof protection
