Dag 1 - Cuiabá/Araras Eco Lodge

Transfer + Check in + Trekking

- Pick up at hotel or airport in Cuiabá, reception and transfer to Poconé (105 Km), following on the Transpantaneira up to Araras Eco Lodge (32 Km). Bird watching along the way to the lodge. 

 

- Welcome drink and accommodation.

 

- Afternoon trekking on the Rondon pathtowards the 13 m high Jabiru Stork Tower, where you can watch a Jabiru Stork nest.

 

- Dinner and overnight at Araras Eco Lodge.

 

Dag 2 - Araras Eco Lodge

Arapacu Trial + Observation Tower

- Early morning birding at the “Arapacu” trial, (white-eyed parakeet, monk parakeet, rufous hornero, yellow-browned tyrant, purplish jay, sayaca tanager, saffron finch, red-crested cardinal, etc.).

 

- Lunch at Araras. - Visit to the observation tower with possibilities of spotting herons, sun bittern, little blue heron, whistling heron, bare-faced ibis, snail kite, purple gallinule, yellow-billed tern, Amazon kingfisher, pygmy kingfisher, barred ant shrike, etc.

 

- Return to Araras Lodge in adapted vehicle for bird watching with possibilities to see black-crowned night-heron, nacunda nightjar, pauraquee, great horned owl, common potoo, etc.

 

- Dinner and overnight at Lodge.

 

Dag 3 - Araras Eco Lodge

Sentinela Camp

- Early morning birding at the lodge ground, (white-eyed parakeet, monk parakeet, rufous hornero, yellow-browned tyrant, purplish jay, sayaca tanager, saffron finch, red-crested cardinal, Sturnella superciliaris, Polistictus pectoralis, Psarocolius decumanus, etc.). 

 

- After breakfast trip to the “Sentinela-camp” by the margins of Clarinho river for further birding in kayaks and paths (herons, sun bittern, little blue heron, whistling heron, bare-faced ibis, snail kite, purple gallinule, yellow-billed tern, Amazon kingfisher, pygmy kingfisher, barred ant shrike, etc.).

 

- Lunch by the campfire. Further birding on the savannah on the way back to the lodge. Dinner. Night tour to look for the night birds: black-crowned night-heron, nacunda nightjar, pauraquee, great horned owl, common potoo, etc.

 

- Return and overnight at Lodge. 

Dag 4 - Araras Eco Lodge/Cuiabá

Check out + Transfer

- Departure after breakfast (07:30) or after lunch (12:30).

Information Araras Eco Lodge

A comfortable, self-sustained property built in the traditional “pantaneiro” farm style with 19 rooms en suite with hot and cold shower, screened windows, ceiling fan and air-conditioning.
Meals are prepared with organic products directly from our orchard or nearby sup-pliers. The dishes are a sample of the simple homemade farm cooking; lunch and dinner buffets include salads, vegetables, meat and delicious fish.
A bar, swimming pool, kiosk, covered deck, free wi-fi internet area, large verandahs with hammocks and three exciting observation towers are part of the features.
The Lodge is on a 2760 ha private reserve, ensuring memorable meetings with the Pantanal wilderness.

Besides eco-tourism, it pursues activities of extensive cattle breeding - with emphasis on raising the Pantanneiro horse - and undertakes various projects of environmental preservation such as the Hyacinth Macaws and the Turquoise-fronted Parrots in partnership with NGOs, universities and federal agencies. The property is considered a Private Natural Reserve, on which the natural characteristics of Pantanal are preserved.

The main goal of Araras Pantanal Eco Lodge is to contribute toward self-sustained development of the Pantanal basin, by supporting and incentivizing the preservation of nature and native culture. Araras affectionately receives visitors from all latitudes and of all ages, for we believe that the best way for humanity to protect its natural resources is through knowledge.
